Whimsical
Im studying different aspects of whimsical(identity) because I want to find out 1) what makes something whimsical; 2) why are whimsical becoming more popular and 3) how do designers use whimsical elements on their designs but make them acceptable in order to help my reader understand the beauty of being whimsical.

The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk
This is the third time I went to the Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk, yet I didn't feel tired of it, because I learned something new each time. The first time I went there, I was overwhelmed by how many designs there were, and how creative they were. Also each time I entered into a different room, it gave a totally different feeling.
The designs of clothes are important, but how the clothes should be exhibited is as important. In this exhibition, the lightning, color of the room, settings, background music/sound, the design of the walls, etc. are all considered according to the clothes. Matching these elements with the clothes definitely emphasizes the meanings, feelings and designs of the clothes.
Something that attracted my attention the most is how many cultural elements Jean Paul used in his design. Inspirations are everywhere in life, anything can be used as a inspiration of designs. Jean Paul found that cultures are something that can influence him a lot, therefore in many of his designs, you can find elements from different culture around the world. I really enjoyed looking at them, and I appreciate him spreading out the beauty of different cultures.
