10 Things That Are Beautiful To Me

Beauty is making mistakes, for nothing in this world is perfect.
Beauty is opening my eyes in the morning, and seeing the blue sky and the white clouds hanging outside of the window.
Beauty is everything that glows in dark.
Beauty is looking into someone's eyes, and seeing the shadow of myself.
Beauty is the blooming flowers and baby green leaves in spring.
Beauty is when the morning sunshine kisses on my cheeks.
Beauty is playing memories in mind like a movie
Beauty is a pure heart as a new born baby.
Beauty is walking on the crunchy fall leaves and making the first footprint on the snow.
Beauty is bring happiness to people.

1. A Ring Necklace
When my mom was pregmant, my family was poor, and my dad was in trouble, hiding from someone. All my family members told my mom to abort me because no one thought she was able to raise me. One day, when my dad was opening the window, the handle of the window got tucked between his wedding ring and ring finger. He thought it was really weird because the ring was so tight that there was no way a handle could get between. He was so worried that it was a bad sign that he made a phone call to my mom. He found outr that my mom just agreed to abort me, and he stopped her. The ring saved my life.

Before the first time I came to America, my dad gave thiswedding ring to me as a good luck charm. Ever since, I started to wear it on my neck every day and night. There are many beautiful necklaces in stores that I like, but I have never gotten any, because to me, this is the most beautiful necklace that goes with any clothing.

2. A Dried White Rose
At my old high school, the Waldorf School of Garden City, every senior student have a first grader to take care of. On the opening ceremony, all seniors gave their first graders a red rose, and on our senior graduation, all first graders gave us a white rose as return. I remember saying to my first grader, " I'm gonna keep this forever." "No, you won't." she said. "Yes, I will." and I smiled.

3. An Empty Envelope
On day when I open my mailbox in the basement at Kerry Hall, I saw a green envelope. I was so excited that I finally got a mail from someone. However, as I touched it, it felt very light to me. I took it out, and it was empty. The envelope was broken, and whatever was inside was gone on its way here. I looked at the name and address, and it was from one of my best friends. Though I didn't read anything that was written inside, I felt what he wanted to say,

4. An Old Picture
Last summer when I was looking through all the old pictures from my childhood, I found this picture when I was little that was taken with my grandma. I brought it with me to college, and it is now pasted to the middle of my desk. Ever since I left home, every time when I go back home and see her for the first time, I'm always scared that I will see her getting older. Be healthy and happy, grandma.

5. A Copy of a Painting
At the beginning of this winter break, something horrible happened on me. I was going to stay in New York for the whole one-and-a-half-month break, but suddenly I wanted to leave this place and give myself a real break. I called my friend in LA, booked my air tickets, pack my stuff and went to LA for ten days. Those ten days was my happiest time during the break. No worries, no sadness, everything was so happy, free and relaxing. I found this copy of painting on the Venice Beach from an artist, and I bought it to remind the happiness.

6. A Dream-Catcher
There is this friend of mine, who did not have a lot of friends when we were at high school in Shanghai. She is a decent girl with a pure heart, but sometimes she can be really straightforward, maybe too straightforward for people to like her. I cherish her because everyone has his/her defects, and we should always look at the virtues. After four years not seeing each other, we finally met in New York, a whole different world. We spent Christmas Eve together, and she gave me this dream-catcher as a gift.

7. FERRERO ROCHER
Before I had Christmas Eve dinner with the girl I mentioned in the last paragraph, I thought I would be spending Christmas Eve alone at dorm, because I hurt my lower back so that I could not move a lot, and everyone at dorm went back home. This friend of mine Jack was hanging out with his friend in Manhattan, and he happened to know that I was at dorm alone with my lower back hurt. He went to get take away food for me and got me a box of Ferrero Rocher and send it to my dorm.

8. A Pair of Button Pins
The summer of 2012, I took a summer program in Paris: Parsons Intensive Studies in Paris. It was a one month program, and this one-month experience totally changed my life. I've learned so much about how to get inspiration, and the experience on living in Paris is remarkable. On this pair of button pins, one says "Parsons" and the other one says "Paris". Every time when I look at them, they remind me of my crazy and meaningful summer in Paris.

9. A Notebook
I call this notebook "Positive Energy". I write on it everyday, but it is not a diary. Every night before I go to bed, I sit and think about five things that I am thankful for, and write them down in this notebook. I found out that being thankful is one of the most important things about being happy, because every time when I am being thankful, I feel like my life is sweet and warm.

10. Clair De Lune
I am a music person. I love singing, listening to music and playing piano. Playing piano is one of my ways of relaxing. If I play piano after a long time not playing it, I can sit in front of the piano for hours and not feeling tired at all. Clair De Lune is one of my favorite piece of music, because of how dreamy it is. When I hear it, I feel so relaxing like I'm lying down in the clouds and surrounded by happiness.
